Welcome to The Little Arts Academy, which was  created to ensure that beneficiaries of the Business Times Budding Artists Fund have access to a sustained and systematic education in the Arts.

 

Art of Play (For ages 7 to 12)

Art of Play is a fun introduction to dance, music, theatre and the visual arts for children between 7 and 12 years of age. Multidisciplinary in nature and with a strong emphasis on teaching students to be creators of art, Art of Play enhances a child’s appreciation of various art forms and the creative process. In each module, children are given the artistic freedom to explore and experiment with the art form.

At the end of Art of Play, it is desired that students would

  • acquire basic skills in dance, music, theatre and visual arts.
  • become more aware of their strengths, talents and interests as they grow in confidence in expressing themselves in the different art forms.
  • demonstrate creative and critical thinking abilities in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • grow to love and appreciate the arts.

Foundation (For ages 7 to 12)

The Foundation Programme aims to develop students to acquire sound technical skills in a chosen discipline. At the end of Art of Play , students will choose their specialisation in particular disciplines based on their preference and the recommendations of their trainers. Students may choose to follow the basic graded examination syllabus of the chosen discipline. Outstanding students may be given opportunities to perform in public, enabling them to build stage confidence, showmanship and the ability to communicate eloquently.

At the end of the Foundation Programme, it is desired that students would

  • acquire strong technical foundation skills in the chosen discipline.
  • gain confidence and develop their strengths, talents and interests in the chosen discipline.
  • grow to love and appreciate the arts.

Students graduating from the Foundation Programme will:

  • have opportunities to showcase their skills and knowledge learnt on public platforms such as The Little Arts Academy’s anniversary productions.

Young Arts Academy (For ages 13 to 19)

Young Arts Academy is a performance-led programme that fuels the creative spirit of youth by developing, empowering and advancing young artists. Youths will acquire sound technical skills in a chosen discipline and work towards performing in public.

At the end of the Young Arts Academy Programme, it is desired that students would

  • gain proficiency in advanced technical skills in their discipline.
  • be self-directed to innovate and produce original works.
  • gain confidence and courage in pursuing artistic goals and purposes despite obstacles.
  • gain stage confidence and showmanship (for performing arts) / be able to communicate their vision eloquently through original art works (for visual arts)
  • grow to love and appreciate the arts.

Students graduating from the Young Arts Academy Programme will:

  • have opportunities to showcase their talents and/or original works on public platforms.
  • have opportunities to make optimal use of their strengths, talents and interests and contribute to their community.
  • receive a certificate of participation from the Little Arts Academy.

Suitable for youths who

  • are aged between 13 and 19 years.
  • wish to gain proficiency in their skills in the chosen discipline(s).
  • wish to gain exposure and experience as an art practitioner through reflective and self-directed art-making and performing on public platforms.
