Art of Play Programme

Art of Play is a six-month introductory programme for children to explore basic aspects of dance, music, theatre and visual arts. It is multidisciplinary in nature with strong emphasis on nurturing the child’s interest for the arts and encouraging them to explore and experiment with the arts. Once they complete Art of Play, they will continue to the Foundation classes.

Maxine and The Wild RumpusThe children’s imagination takes flight and comes to life as they discover the magic of theatre. The children will learn how to create tableaux where they use their bodies frozen in various positions to tell stories. They will also be introduced to stage terms and scripting. This is an ideal beginner’s theatre programme for other dramatic exploration and it culminates in a mini performance or show and tell at the end of the term.

Visual ArtsThe children will have fun exploring and experimenting with different art mediums and various art techniques to express their creativity. The children will be introduced to the elements of art and principles of design through fun activities that enable them to think creatively and gain the confidence to express their thoughts through their artworks.

Music and PlayChildren are introduced to two music instruments – guitar and keyboard. They will learn basic skills and notation of these instruments and basic note-reading, rhythms and beats. The children will also learn how to play simple music for their show and tell.

danceChildren will learn simple and basic body and dance moves that will have them hop, turn and move with confidence and style. They are introduced to movements through New Style dance and tasked to dance to a piece of choreography for show and tell.
